How can I start to describe the concert. It was just awesome.
We had a few days of bad weather (winds) and therefore a lot of rumours about cancellation. But on yesterday afternoon, the weather jsut seemed to improve. Sunshine, no winds and about 25 degrees celcius. What more can we ask for. It had already been announced on the local radio station that Elton had landed in Tenerife. It was now clear that the concert was a go.
In best canarian style, they didn't open the doors until 19:30 (should have been 18:00). The stage was stunning. Set in a natural amphitheater on a golfcourse (Poor golfers, I think that hole 17 is out of order for a while!!!) An estimated 20.000 people was there.
When Elton John began at 21:00 it was of course dark. During the concert, the full moon began to rise directly above the stage. The effect was amazing. There is a few pics trying to capture this. The photos dosn't do the justice. Imagine you are watching EJ performing live, open air and then the full moon is directly above him!!
The playlist was full of his hits. Rocket man, Your song, Candle in the wind, Don't let the sun etc.
EJ is an amazing performer, and I really enjoyed being part of history. It will not be the last time I am going to watch EJ perform.
